A Few Memorable Watches

Watches are a dying breed, to be honest. Not a lot of people these days wear wrist watches, as more and more people tend to rely more on their gadgets like smartphones to tell them the time. But then, it cannot be denied as well that the wearing of watches is still very classy and fashionable. People wearing watches look put-together in a fashionable way. Whether it is Patek Philippe, Rolex, or Omega watches, there is a touch of class and elegance that a watch lends an otherwise drab outfit.

For a lot of people, watches, other than just being fashionable accessories, are also a statement of class and sophistication. They can also be investments, as signature watches, like true jewelry pieces, can actually appreciate in value and can therefore be pawned or sold when the owner needs money. But more than these, watches, as they are becoming more of a throwback piece of accessory, represents an era of history personal to the owner.  Here are a couple of watches that are surely memorable to a watch owner:

First watch given by parents

Probably the first watches we ever have are those given to use when we were kids. Whatever our interests as little kids, there’s a watch that matches it that we ask our moms and dads to buy. Little boys who love cars will like the Timex Kids’ Time Teacher Cars and Trucks Watch. Meanwhile, little girls will surely love the Timex Kids’ Time Teacher Flowers Watch. And whether one is a boy or a girl, the Transformers Kids’ Optimus Prime Digital Transforming Watch will surely be a favorite. But in terms of significance, the first watch that would probably mean something to us is the one given during graduation. At that milestone in one’s life, a watch is a good choice to mark one’s entry into young adulthood. Young men will appreciate the Tissot Men’s T-Touch Polished Titanium Watch or a passed down but extremely valuable Patek Philippe Calatrava, while young ladies will like the Amorosa Watch from Movado.

The first watch you buy yourself

Perhaps the biggest milestone of all is the time when you have reached that stage in life when you are able to buy for yourself a luxury watch. For men, the most popular first luxury watches are probably the “James Bond watches” from Omega and Rolex. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner line of watches is especially known for their resistance to water and extreme temperatures, making it ideal for divers. If you want to buy Omega watches due to the James Bond appeal, it will be wise though to stay away first from the models that have the James Bond logo. These are better left to the collectors and not first time buyers. Have the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver watch instead. While ladies are more used to being given watches, independent women would want to buy a luxury watch for themselves. A fine example is the Cartier Tankissime Ladies’ Watch with 18K White Gold Cream Dial and Diamond Bezel.
